FAQs
- First Step: Make sure you have the latest version of JogStats from the App Catalog. Updates are free.
- Q: Why doesn't the Start button work in JogStats Trial?"
- Our trial registration server was down for a week or so. Try again and it should now work. (3-4-2011)
- I am on Verizon and cannot get the GPS to work.
- Verizon has limited Assisted GPS to their own VZ Navigator app. In a nutshell this means 3rd party apps on Verizon can take a very long time to get a GPS lock. The most common workaround is to launch VZ Navigator (you don't have to sign up or pay for it, just launch it and leave it open) in the background, which causes the GPS to lock in quickly. Recently, James Harris has created an app called GPS Fix that may help with this problem: Click here for more info on GPS Fix.
- Q: Why is the session time incorrect after updating to webOS 1.4?"
- Update JogStats to the latest version in the App Catalog to fix this problem.
- Q: Why does JogStats get stuck "Waiting for GPS?"
- Sometimes the GPS module on the phone becomes unresponsive. Try restarting your phone by pressing <Orange> + <Sym> + <R>
- Q: Why do I get the error "Please Enable GPS?"
- You need to enable GPS in the Location Services Preferences. Open the Location Services app, tap the Preferences menu, tap Locate Me Using... and tap Use GPS.
- Q: Why can Google Maps find me if GPS is disabled?
- webOS can use the Google Service or GPS to locate your phone. Google Service is less accurate than GPS.
- Q: Why are the dates of my sessions incorrect?
- There was a bug in version 0.4.7 of Jogstats that causes the month to be displayed incorrectly. Download the latest version in the App Catalog to fix the problem.
- Q: Does JogStats calculate calories?
- Yes, since version 1.0.0 JogStats calculates calories. The equation used is simple and is based on session type, weight and distance.
- Q: Can JogStats export a GPX file?
- Yes, as of version 1.1.0. If you have an older version, update it for free in the App Catalog.
- Q: Why does JogStats have to send my GPX data to your servers?
- The current webOS SDK does not allow apps to write directly to the file system. Data must be sent to our servers to be downloaded as a .gpx file. Hopefully this will change in the future.
- Q: What does Waiting for accuracy mean?
- JogStats waits until the GPS signal is strong enough to get accurate results. For best results, use JogStats outdoors in areas where much of the sky is visible. In some areas (in trees or around tall buildings) you may need to increase the minimum accuracy in the Preferences menu.
- Q: Why does the GPS keep timing out?
- If the GPS continuously times out, try these steps:
- 1)Make sure Use GPS is enabled in Location Services for your phone
- 2)Make sure your phone is not in Airplane Mode
- 3)Try restarting your phone
